Read this article to learn why Sugaring might not be for you if you are taking specific Acne-related medications and/or have some skin conditions.

To ensure a successful waxing experience, please read and follow these instructions.
WARNING: sugaring is never done on clients taking Accutane and is not recommended for clients taking Retin A, Renova, Differin or other types of skin thinning acne medications. Please read the label carefully and consult your dermatologist if you are taking any medication or using any topical cream that contains these medications. Individuals do react differently to these medications and sometimes waxing can be done if proper patch testing is completed.

CAUTION: If you are currently using any of the following, please inform your technician. These products can make the skin more sensitive. Thin, sensitive skin is more vulnerable to lifting and sensitivity during waxing.

- Oral Antibiotics
- Topical Antibiotics
- Retinol
- Salicylic Acid
- Other exfoliants
PRECAUTIONS & CONSIDERATIONS:Please read these valuable guidelines.

Sunburned, irritated or areas with open skin cannot be sugared.
- You must wait a minimum of seven (7) days before sugaring after a light chemical peel or Microdermabrasion.
- Sugaring cannot be performed if you have had laser skin resurfacing within the past 6 months.
- If irritation should occur, recommend you use an antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin to keep the area continually moist to avoid infection and scabbing.
- No hot baths for 24 hours following a body sugaring treatment.
- No abrasives for 24 hours following a sugaring treatment.
- No deodorants for 24 hours following an underarm sugaring treatment.
- Women may experience extra sensitivity to sugaring up to a week prior to the beginning of their cycle. It is recommended to come within the 5 days from the end of your period.

Cysts ( A dust is a lump of the upper or lower eyelid caused by obstruction and inflammation of an oil gland of the eyelid. )

Diabetic Retinopathy ( a medical condition in which damage occurs to the retina due to diabetes)

Herpes Simplex

Blepharitis ( An ocular condition characterized by chronic inflammation of the eyelid )

Hordeola/Stye/Styes ( A small collection of puss/abscess on the eyelid )

Skin Disease, Skin Trauma, Cuts, Abrasions, Burns, and Swelling in the immediate area.

Skin Disorders in the general eye area. ( Dermatitis, Xanthelasma, Syringoma )

Eye Infections ( Impetigo, Conjunctivitis )

Eye Inflammation ( Uveitis )

Recent surgeries around the eyes, head, or face.

Scar Tissue

Watery Eyes

Hypersensitive Skin/Eyes

Keratitis ( Inflammation of the cornea of the eye )

Alopecia ( Loss of hair )

Trichotillomania ( Classified as an impulse control disorder )

Bells Palsy or any condition that makes closing or opening the eye(s) difficult.
- Any disease/disorder that causes shaking twitching or erratic movements.

I was TERRIFIED and not sure what to expect. I also thought the experience would be painful (as many tell horror stories of waxing). But this was an AMAZING experience from the moment I walked in, the estetician answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable. It truly didn’t even hurt!!! I was sold from the get-go and immediately booked other services for the next week. I HIGHLY recommend this location, as it is very clean and they educate you through the process ( I literally knew nothing about self care!) And unlike other experiences where I left in tears feeling stupid, this location made me feel safe, they were interested in helping me LEARN and just made what could have been a scary experience something that I was excited about and wanting to return to. Trust me ladies stop overthinking it and just get it done! Totally a game changer! Erica has made my experience so great! My friends recommended her for a Brazilian wax and I was beyond nervous in the beginning but she literally made me feel comfortable, process was so easy and fast. I got really lucky getting Erica for my first Brazilian experience. I will not go anywhere or to anyone else. I will never forget how terrified I was my first time sugaring and only wanted to do my sides but Erica encourage me to do the full Brazilian and she was right! I will never go back to shaving!The first time is the worst but it gets better each time as long as you don’t shave in between appointments! Erica always makes me feel very comfortable and is VERY professional. It feels like I’ve known her for 10 years. 🤣I feel like a rockstar every time Erica is done! My confidence level goes through the roof! I highly recommend Erica and SugaringNYC. The salon is always very clean, cute and professional. I would recommend Sugar NYC for any sugaring needs! I went in for my first sugaring experience and was very nervous. Janet was my esthetician and she really put my mind at ease and talked me through everything as we went. There was some pain, of course, but Janet really made the process enjoyable. I will be back!Edit: I would like to add that Erica is amazing! She has been my esthetician for my last few appointments and she is the best! She puts you at ease and does a thorough job, ensuring every hair is gone. Her personality is like a ray of sunshine, making your day better after each appointment.

First time getting my underarms waxed/sugared and it was a pleasant experience despite the obvious pain of getting hair ripped out of your body. But honestly, the pain wasn’t that bad. Some expected tenderness after, but I am smooth and hair free. Excited to see how things fair in the coming days and the new growth. Brazilian was to be expected, she did a good job there as well, no tenderness after. Overall, sugaring is slightly less painful than standard waxing, but the sensitive spots hurt just as bad, it is what it is. Recovery is far better with no irritation or chaffed skin. 10/10 would reccomend if sugaring/waxing is your preference. Would choose sugaring over traditional waxing for sure.
